Chadron players earn football honors

KEARNEY, Neb. - Chadron State, Nebraska-Omaha and Nebraska-Kearney share in Nebraska Division II Players of the Week for the first week of October.

Chadron State middle linebacker Duke Eardley is the top defensive player and kicker Travis Atter is the top special teams performer.

In Chadron’s 51-7 win over New Mexico Highlands, Eardley, a senior from Mountain View, Wyo., had nine tackles, including 2.5 for loss, and a fumble recovery. On the day, Chadron limited Highlands to just 137 yards.

For the season, Eardley leads the CSC defense with 49 total tackles.

Atter, a senior from Buffalo, Wyo., made all three field goals he attempted and all six of his PAT kicks. With his final field goal, he tied Jay Masek for the most made field goals in Chadron history with 49. Atter also averaged 63.7 yards on 10 kickoffs.

For the season, Atter has connected on 10 of 13 field goals and all 16 PAT kicks.

UNO freshman running back Levi Terrell is the offensive player of the week. Terrell had his second straight 192-yard rushing day as UNO won at Emporia State, 34-13. In his second collegiate game, Terrell carried the ball 34 times and had TD runs of 2 and 67 yards.

On the volleyball court, UNK senior outside Erica Burson is the Player of the Week. She averaged 4.00 kills per set and hit .377 as the 8th-ranked Lopers won three RMAC matches in three days.
